Turkey Heliski Experience
The T. H. E.
Turkey Heliski Experience.
Our Heli Skiing adventures are located in The Kackar Range in northeastern Turkey, the mountain peaks reaching over 3’900 metres. The village we are based in is Ayder which is a five minute helicopter flight from the first ski runs. In fact the helicopter base is next to the hotel.
A UNIQUE SKIING EXPERIENCE
- Location: The Kachar Range, Northeast Turkey bordering the Black sea.
- Altitude: The top peak is at 3900 metres.
- Ski Zone: Skiing from 1’200m up to 3’600m.
- Vertical: 5000 plus per day depending on fitness.
- Average run: 700 to 1200 vertical m.
- Helicopters: Swiss Air Zermatt helicopters, H.T. partners.
- Accommodation: Hotel Hasimoglu in the village of Ayder.
Turkey Heleski uses only the best Swiss Helicopters, pilots and engineers with a selection of international guides. The ski terrain of over 5’000 km2 was first discovered in 2003 by Thierry Gassler ( T. H.E CEO) who boasts that he chose the area for:
“the regular amounts of snow, stability of the snowpack, snow quality, the vastness and variety of the ski terrain, which keeps our guests continually surprised”.
T.H.E has exclusive use of this terrain.
“I have been incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to ski some of the best mountains in the world, but I have to say that Turkey will always be one of my absolute favourite spots, not only because of the amazing terrain but equally as much for the organization, the guides and the pilots. An incredible experience run with total professionalism”

THE SKIING
5000 plus vertical metres a day on a variety of terrain
Skiing between 1’200 and 3’600 metres above sea level in a variety of terrain, mostly open slopes and some runs that end in the tree line. With an average of 700 to 1200 vertical to ski in each run, this is a lot of mileage daily for the skiers. Thierry told me they can guarantee 5000 vertical plus metres per day if skiers have the fitness and desire and the weather co-operates.
The team is exceptional and their combined skills ensure to maximise your ski experience and safety. The guides are collectively some of the best in the Heli ski world, having worked in other Heli Ski operations and having additional skills, such as being Himalayan climbers, professional rescuers and helicopter pilots. The pilots and engineers are employed by Air Zermatt, T.H.E’s helicopter partner and, just like the guides, they also come equipped with all the complementary skills sets. They are true professionals working annually in the mountains.
It’s important to be fit and technically ready, so ski and snowboard powder training camps set up next winter by European Snowsport in Verbier and Zermatt will ensure that the legs, mind and soul are prepared for this adventure. A 10 percent discount applies for these camps once you have booked a week of heliskiing.
