With a vast living space of 1,000m2 set out over five floors, Chalet 1936 comfortably sleeps fourteen people in seven uniquely designed bedrooms with en suite bathrooms or shower rooms. It’s a great choice for large groups of families or friends looking for somewhere truly fabulous to stay close to everything that Verbier has to offer.
A clever juxtaposition between an authentic mountain chalet and pop art cool, Chalet 1936 is one of Verbier’s most sought-after properties. Colourful art and contemporary furnishings are set against a backdrop of traditional wood beams, wall panelling and polished oak floors creating interiors that are the epitome of modern style and decadence.
The main entrance is on the first floor where a spacious hallway opens into the open-plan living and dining area. With a choice of beautifully upholstered, large comfy sofas and armchairs, there is plenty of space for everyone to relax either in front of the roaring fireplace or in the TV corner. At the far end, a 14-seater dining table set under contemporary lighting is the perfect setting for long, drawn-out mealtimes. The well-equipped adjacent kitchen has a small breakfast table, and can be closed off for additional privacy. Full height sliding glass doors open onto the surrounding terrace from where there are spectacular views of the valley and surrounding mountains. For anyone who needs to work or study, there is an exceptionally comfortable office with a fireplace and sofa.
"I loved the modern take on chalet chic. With interiors that match the incredible mountain views, and a convenient location right in the heart of Verbier, this place is hard to beat in winter and summer alike."
The seven individually designed bedrooms are quite simply stunning. From antique wood beams to roll top copper baths, natural stone sinks and sumptuous fabrics, every detail oozes luxury with a quirky twist. Taking up the entire top floor, the magnificent master suite has a beautiful stone fireplace and private balcony. On the floor below, there are four double bedrooms with balcony access and beautiful bathrooms or shower rooms, and one charming quad bunk room with two sets of hand-crafted bunks and an en suite shower room. There is also an en suite twin bedroom on the ground floor as well as a staff apartment with a separate entrance.*
The lower two floors of the chalet are dedicated to relaxation and entertainment. Chic and stylish, the extensive wellness area on the lower ground floor has an indoor swimming pool with a swim jet system, a glass hammam, shower room and relaxation lounge. For the more energetic, the modern gym has a great range of equipment. Alternatively, step out onto the terrace and admire the mountain views whilst soaking in the cedar wood hot tub. With a cosy cinema room and a games room with a bar area on the ground floor, there is something to keep everyone entertained.
Chalet 1936 has a ski room with its own entrance and exterior parking for three vehicles. An elevator links the first four floors; the top floor is accessed via a staircase.
*The staff apartment is available to rent for an additional cost.
